How much will my residence and meal plan cost?
Rates are based on eight-month occupancy and vary depending on building and meal plan selections. For one-term students (September-December or January-April), the fee is prorated (number of days in term), and is approximately ½ of the fee quoted on the rate chart.
  • $900 Prepayment Deadline Date as noted on your offer letter
Note: Prepayment will be applied to your residence fee balance)
  • August 1, 2017 - 1st Instalment Due
($7,000 with meal plan or $4,000 with no meal plan)
  • January 16, 2018 - 2nd Instalment Due (remaining balance).
How do I make a payment for residence
(prepayment or 1st/2nd instalments)?

Note: Ensure that your name and student ID are
included with your payment. Once processed in our office,
you will receive an automated email confirmation. If you do not receive confirmation within the next business day, contact the Residence Admissions Office by email at to ensure that your accommodation is not cancelled.
What if I need to cancel residence accommodation
prior to arrival or withdraw after move in?
Cancellations received on or before the deadline date (August 1, 2017) will receive a $450 refund (½ of prepayment). Cancellations received after the deadline date will forfeit the entire $900 prepayment.
International & Exchange Student Move-in Day
International and exchange students are encouraged to arrive to residence on August 31, 2017 and September 1, 2017 (at no additional charge for room accommodations). As stated in your Western International correspondence, we have several welcome activities specifically for international and exchange students we would like to extend the invitation for you to attend on Saturday, September 3rd!

your necessary linens (sheets, pillows, blankets,
towels, laundry hamper) which will be waiting for you in your residence room upon your arrival.

Also available from Residence Linens is A Kitchen Starter Kit . A 20 piece package which includes plates, glasses, cutlery and cookware for $79.95.
How do I get my Western ONECard
(student ID)?
Visit this website to upload your photo to Registrar's
Office online before August 15th by following the steps
indicated by Student Services. Your Western ONECard
will then be at your residence for your arrival. This card will also provide you with immediate access to your residence meal plan.
What if I find that residence is not what
I expected and want to move out?
The majority of students in residence are 1st year
undergraduates (17-19 years of age) and there may be
lots of excitement around move-in day and Orientation Week. Please understand there is a settling-in period for all students new to residence and things should quiet down as classes begin and quiet hours come into effect. As an older student, if for some reason you find that living in residence is not conducive to your lifestyle/study habits, too noisy, or too restrictive, please speak with your Residence Manager to see how we can better address your needs. Should you decide to withdraw from residence, you will be held financially responsible for your vacated room for the duration of your contract if a suitable replacement is not found, so please consider speaking with us before making such a decision.
When will I know which building/room I have
been assigned?
You will be offered a building once you complete your application. To accept the building offer, submit your $900 prepayment. You will then be sent a timeslot which will allow you to select your room.
Can I request a roommate and is it less expensive
if I share with a roommate?
As non-first year students, exchange students are
assigned to single rooms in either traditional style buildings
or suite-style buildings. If you and your requested roommate are assigned to a suite-style building you will be assigned to the same suite. Your roommate request is not considered if you are assigned to a traditional style building as you will automatically be assigned to a single room as an upper year student.
Am I required to purchase a meal
plan while living in residence?
A residence meal plan is mandatory in all residences except Alumni House and London Hall for upper year-students. On your application, you will be required to indicate a meal plan option - however, should you be assigned to London Hall or Alumni House, your residence meal plan will be cancelled. If you wish to reinstate your residence meal plan, it is recommended that you wait until your arrival to decide since there are various meal plan options available to you (i.e., residence meal plan and campus meal plan).
