The residence menu operates on a six-week cycle. Lunch and dinner feature an average of six hot entrees including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and "FRESH APPROVED" healthier options. In addition, students can make daily selections from a soup/chili, deli, yogurt/parfait or salad bar. Interactive cooking and a carvery station are also featured during several dinners throughout the week.
The residence menu provides varied culinary options. Students can experience the flavours and cuisine of Asia, European and North American fares, as well as different cooking techniques to create a wide selection of dishes. To help make sound and independent choices, ingredients are listed for most items on daily menu boards found in each dining hall.
Be advised that purchasing meals in residence will provide much better value and will extend your residence meal plan credit. As residence food prices reflect that the overhead portion has been removed and you are not taxed for most meal purchases you make in residence, your residence meal plan will last much longer if you purchase your meals within the residence dining halls. Ordering in, using the online vending machines, or dining on campus or at local restaurants (off-campus partners) is more expensive, and your flex dollars will be depleted more quickly.
The dining halls (except Elgin Hall) are open every day from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. In addition, several residences feature evening dining operations from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm, or midnight. (Elgin Hall dining hall is closed for the weekend after dinner on Friday and reopens for breakfast on Monday morning.)
Please note that statutory holidays are included in the weekend dining hall closing for Elgin Hall.
